Happy New Year!

Today is the first day of the rest of 2014.

I want to get back to blogging because there is something therapeutic about it. I feel the need to share those things in my life that will just maybe help someone.For instance, if you are into making smoothies I will have some recipes to share. Today I did this:

2 ripe bananas
I can pineapple chunks
I can mandarin oranges
(I only drain the canned  fruit if in light syrup. Otherwise if it is packed in juice i pour it all in)
1 huge handful of greens, (spinach mixture in a bag)
Blend on high for a minute.

This is so good!  I was glad I had it in the frig when I was craving something sweet.

Welcome to my blog. You may be familiar with my blog, or just visiting for the first time. Actually, I have not been here for a while myself, but decided it is time to do some updating.

My home has been keeping me quite distracted from sewing projects these past few months. There is lots to share, but today I am concentrating on sharing the latest news from the sewing room, my favorite part of  VictoriaLynn's Creation Space.

My creations were discovered on Etsy by a budding local entrepreneur, Magic City Creations, in Barberton, Ohio and I was invited to place my items in their Cafe and Craftery which serves up the most delicious coffee, muffins, and yummy cupcakes! They have beautiful items, like jewelry, handmade bags, candles, crochet items, homemade soap,  and are getting new items daily. So this new venture has  re-ignited my excitement to get going and start sewing. I am now in the process of creating large tote bags and more drawstring backpacks.

Now available  at the Magic City Creations Cafe and Craftery.

This backpack, with colorful worms, will be a hit with the young and young-at-heart,

Fun Christmas Gift Bags

Fireworks Americana

 Purple Batik Drawstring Backpack

 Colorful Handbags

 Favorite Characters on a Quilted Clutch

Drawstring Bag from Pillow Panel

I love to work with bright colors.

I have been taking a break from homeownership for about six years now, and am now so thrilled at the opportunity to fix up and decorate this wonderful little fixer-upper in the in the heart of my home town.  This property has been vacant for quite awhile, and like all the vacant homes that sit there unloved and unattended, it has been vandalized more than once. All plumbing is now PVC where copper used to be.

In order to discourage intruders, I had glass block windows installed, security lighting, and am re enforcing doors, windows and  locks.

The kitchen is my favorite room of the house in any place that I live, so therefore I have been concentrating my efforts on a slight upgrade, by removing wallpaper, applying a fresh coat of paint and sewing new curtains.  I thought I wanted yellow on the walls, but once I had a section covered, I changed my mind and decided to do all the walls white, and use the yellow paint to paint the chair rail.

Here are the curtains, which have bright yellow tulips.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The yellow was too much, so was getting covered with bright white. I am actually thinking now that the white is too bright, and I need to apply an off white and save the bright white for just the cabinets.
The chair rail will get a new coating of yellow, to coordinate with the curtains.
Looking forward to the "after" pics!! Oh the pedestal sink will need to find a new home....
            I moved it out of the way to make room for a new vanity/sink combo...
Shower/tub also needs attention...needing a new faucet and shower fittings.
Check back for updates....Thanks for visiting!! I look forward to your next visit!
My New Adventures In Gardening
My New Experiment in Upside Down Gardening
I got a funny look from the cashier when I went into the grocery store just to buy  two shopping bags. I was too excited about the idea of using them for gardening upside down to think about getting any groceries I might need. And I was under a time crunch since I have to go to work this afternoon. I wanted to get this started and see if it actually was possible to get the plant through a small hole in the bottom, and I wanted to do this before the plant got too much bigger. So here is the beginning of my experiment. More soil can be added, (I ran out) so I can put some small herbs in the top.  I look forward to seeing how this works and sharing my results in the coming weeks.
I pray that God Blesses everyone who visits this little cyber corner of my world, with smiles, sunshine and laughter.
Peace of the Lord Jesus be with you!
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning."
Long Overdue Update~Happy Spring~Happy Resurrection Sunday!
Here is the Valentine decoration I mentioned in my last post. I used some favorite coordinating fabrics left from former projects and crafted them into quilted hearts and added eyelet trim.
Here is my Happy Easter Door Decoration to welcome visitors. I had a straw hat, silk flowers, and greenery and purchased some extras from the local "everything is a dollar" store.
Below are pics of my newest handmade drawstring backpack just added to my ETSY shop.
At last year's craft show I received lots of great feedback and now my backpacks are even bigger and better than ever! So now they are a large 16" x 19", with even more room for shopping, travel, school or the library.
I am working on new ones so hope you check back again soon!
Please visit my ETSY shop
"Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us". Romans 5:1-5
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
As i put away the Christmas decorations today, the urge to make a new wreath for Valentines day hit me. I have browsed the Valentine ideas on the web and am now going to venture into my stash and find the makings for a new Valentine wreath.
There. I have made a resolution to blog more regularly about my creative surges and urges, and so far I'm good. I will be back in a few hours or maybe a few days with my results on my latest venture.
Happy New Year to everyone. May God be with you in all your days as we are now one year closer to His final return to earth.
Praises~
Keeping Christ in Christmas
It is that time of year again! We are celebrating the coming of Jesus Christ to earth. Jesus gave up His heavenly throne to come to this earth to teach us about God, His father, and our Heavenly Father. Jesus lived on earth so that he could show us what real love is. Real sacrificial love, that we can only know through knowing him. Jesus came into the world, born of a virgin. He then suffered a torturous death, and rose again after 3 days to give us the hope of eternal life. If you know Jesus, then you can look forward to His second coming when He will gather all who believe in Him to join Him in eternity in the new Jerusalem.
Merry Christmas and many blessings to you in the new year!
Where Does the Time Go?
Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God,  and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” (Mark 1:14-15)
Such a simple message, and the only way to keep our joy is to know Jesus and to walk with Him daily!
I can hardly believe it has been over four months since I blogged. I have been in my second semester of school to earn a bachelor degree in business AND working full time. My old apartment flooded at the end of July in a torrential storm and I moved to a new apartment, but just across the street in the same complex. Because of the move, my sewing supplies are now a little more organized, and now I can put together some new creations.  My sewing machine is in the shop, but I have the fabulous thrift store find I bought for my daughter-in-law, an old Signature, from M Wards. It sews like a charm, better than the newer Sears Kenmore that is now in the shop. I unintentionally abuse my machine by sewing through heavy fabrics and the tinker shop says the needle shaft is aluminum and it cracked. Well, I was working in the sewing machine department at Sears when I found that gem of a bargain on closeout for  about $60.00. Now the tinker shop says that the repair on my $60.00 Kenmore will cost $170.00. Sheesh. Whatever! They just got themselves a trade-in, that is if I can work out a deal with them. I just haven't had a chance to get back to the shop to check it out. I would love to just find another gem just like this old Signature that I ( I mean my daughter-in-law) is now blessed with.
Speaking of blessings, the picture on the right is four of God's greatest blessings to me; four of my six grandchildren, gathered together last Christmas, 2010. I have two new blessings, a baby grand daughter and a baby grandson, who were born in May and June, respectively.  Yes I will add another picture of them too. They are my newest inspiration, and have given me the motivation to carve out some time to create some more hats and bibs like this:
May God Bless You and Keep You in His Loving Care!
Decorating on a Shoestring
You can give any room a new look by just tossing around a few pillows here and there.
My latest creative surge has sent me sifting through my scrap bag to see what fabric will make some pillows that can possibly be just the lift a room might need or just a soft place to go to when life is getting just a bit rough. A pillow with a favorite character, flowers, birds, or any favorite animal is a great gift.  How about that graduation gift that you'll soon need, or a bridal shower gift to encourage the bride and groom to soft pillow fights for fun. Here are some of my latest projects.
Today I finished sewing a pillow together any small child will love. Blue Jean Teddy Bear, still waiting to be stuffed,  edged with eyelet gathered to give a very finished and decorative touch.
When my baby was still a baby (17 years ago) she loved fingering the eyelet edge on the little quilt I made her when she was falling asleep. That eyelet edge was her favorite part of the blanket.
(From Mommy's Brag Book - Sorry this is not for sale).
Next time you lay your head on your favorite pillow, let it remind you of the promise of God in His holy word,  that you can "Give all your cares to Him, because He cares for you". 1 Peter 5:7
Family, Church, School
"Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.
 One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts". Psalm 145:3-4
I have a break from my school for a few weeks. Thank you, Lord. My thoughts are on my baby's high school graduation and what that means for her as well as myself.  She is a beautiful young lady who excels in everything she does. She has been in band, volleyball, track, honor society. Am I bragging? I think I am just a bit.  In just a little over a month she will have a new "hall pass" to independence. Me? I have a celebration to plan and so there are announcements, food menus, decorations, and entertainment to plan.
As we plan a celebration for graduation,  my two older children are blessing me with two more grandchildren. Then I will have six grandchildren. God is growing my family by leaps and bounds! The blessings are incredible. I just wanted to take a minute to thank God for all of His many blessings and wish the same for each and every one of you!
Blessings~
